2008-1-18 MVC Saves Rare Grassland Thanks to Huge Donation and Record Setting Grant!

Mississippi Valley Conservancy was able to aquire the New Amsterdam Grassland, a rare intact grassland ecosystem, thanks to a huge donation in land value from Northern Engraving and a nearly $1 million state Stewardship Fund grant. The land will be preserved so it can serve as a nesting area for several endangered bird species, and it will also be open to the public for low-impact recreation use.
